Privacy Policy

What personal data this website handles, why, for how long, and what you can ask us to do about it.

Who is responsible

The controller for the data described here is European Deaf Sports Organisation (EDSO).

When you simply read a page

Our web server records each request in a log: the IP address it came from, the date and time, the page requested, the referring page and the browser identification. This is how a server is operated and secured — it lets us investigate an attack or a fault. The basis is our legitimate interest in a secure, working website (GDPR art. 6(1)(f)). Log entries are kept only as long as they are useful for that purpose and are not used to build a profile of you or combined with anything else.

Cookies and embedded videos

We use no advertising cookies. Strictly necessary cookies keep your session and protect our forms; beyond those, nothing runs until you allow it — neither the visitor measurement described below nor the videos embedded from YouTube. The full list, the durations and the way to change your choice are on the Cookie Policy page.

Where consent applies, the basis is GDPR art. 6(1)(a) together with art. 5(3) of the ePrivacy Directive — in Germany, s.25 TDDDG. Withdrawing consent is one click and does not affect what was lawful before you withdrew it.

Measuring how the site is used

With your consent we use Google Analytics 4, a service of Google Ireland Ltd., Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland. It tells us which pages are read, roughly which country a visit came from, and which pages people leave from — so that we can see what is worth keeping and what nobody can find. Google acts as our processor under its data processing terms.

The legal basis is your consent alone (GDPR art. 6(1)(a), and art. 5(3) ePrivacy / s.25 TDDDG for the storage). Nothing is sent to Google unless you agree, and withdrawing is one click in , which also deletes the cookies it set.

Google Analytics 4 shortens IP addresses on collection and we do not use it to identify anybody. We have switched off Google's advertising features — Google Signals and ad personalisation — so the measurement is not used to build advertising audiences, and we do not combine it with any other data we hold about you. Where data is transferred to the United States, the transfer rests on the EU-US Data Privacy Framework, to which Google LLC is certified, together with Google's standard contractual clauses.

When you write to us

If you send the enquiry form about hosting a championship, or write to the address above, we process what you send us — your name, your e-mail address, your federation and your message — in order to answer. The basis is our legitimate interest in replying to correspondence, or the steps before a contract where your message concerns one (art. 6(1)(f) and 6(1)(b)). Enquiries are kept as long as the matter is live and for as long afterwards as we are required to keep business correspondence.

People named on this site

EDSO is a sports federation and this site is partly a public record of European deaf sport. It therefore publishes the names, roles and photographs of the people who hold office — the Executive Committee, sports directors, commission members, and the officers of our member federations — together with competition information such as entry lists, results and medals. The basis is our legitimate interest, and that of the public, in a transparent account of how European deaf sport is organised and who won what (art. 6(1)(f)).

The people directory deliberately publishes nothing beyond a name, a photograph and an office: no date of birth, no e-mail address, no identification number. People under 18 are left out of it entirely.

If you are named here and want an entry corrected or removed, write to info@edso.eu and we will deal with it.

The member federation portal

Behind the sign-in, member federations enter the people they send to a championship, so that entries, accreditation and invoicing can be handled. That data is provided by the federation and processed to organise the competition the federation has entered — the arrangements between EDSO and its member federations govern it, and it is not published beyond what is described above. Access is restricted to the accounts that need it and is recorded.

Who else sees it

We do not sell personal data and we do not share it for anyone else's purposes. It is seen by our service providers acting on our instructions — hosting and e-mail delivery@if($analyticsId), and Google for the measurement described above@endif — and, where a championship requires it, by the organising committee of that championship. If you allow the YouTube embed, Google receives your IP address and may transfer it outside the European Economic Area under the safeguards described in its own policy.

Your rights

You can ask us at any time to:

  • tell you what we hold about you and give you a copy (art. 15);
  • correct anything inaccurate (art. 16);
  • erase it, where we have no reason to keep it (art. 17);
  • restrict what we do with it while a question is settled (art. 18);
  • hand it to you or another controller in a portable form (art. 20);
  • stop processing based on legitimate interests, on grounds relating to your situation (art. 21);
  • withdraw a consent you gave, at any moment (art. 7(3)).

Write to info@edso.eu and we will answer within a month.

You also have the right to complain to a data protection supervisory authority — in the country you live or work in, or where you think something has gone wrong .

Changes

If what we do changes, this page changes with it and the date below moves. Where the change concerns something you consented to, you will be asked again rather than quietly carried over.
